Experience

Professional

I am passionate about communicating information in clear and compelling ways. In my day job, I research, analyze, and write about public policy issues that affect my local community. Previously, I’ve worked with an international trade consulting firm, a federal government agency, and a non-partisan publication providing accessible and objective policy analysis. I received my Master’s degree from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University and graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle with Bachelor's degrees in International Studies and Economics.

Editing & Admissions Committee

I worked on my graduate school's admissions committee for two years where I read and evaluated hundreds of student applications. I was the news editor for my high school newspaper, a peer reviewer and published writer for the University of Washington’s Jackson School Journal of International Studies, and a senior editor for my graduate school’s journal, The Fletcher Forum of World Affairs.

TEaching & coaching

I love to work with and mentor students. I’ve been a teaching assistant for a creative writing class through the Robinson Center for Young Scholars, a college application mentor for high school students through the Dream Project at the University of Washington, and a teaching assistant for two quantitative economics courses in graduate school. I've tutored math, writing, and languages one-on-one and even been a piano accompanist.

Cross-Cultural Perspective

I speak proficient Mandarin Chinese and have volunteered as a translator for a neighborhood legal clinic. During my undergraduate career, I spent time studying and researching in the Netherlands, Taiwan, and El Salvador. Through my experiences working with people across cultures and my academic training in international affairs, I’ve developed a deep understanding that all of our experiences are unique, and stories must be shared and understood in context and history.
